Editorial Services

I offer a full menu of specialized editorial services, from proofreading and line editing to complete development editing. Take a look, and don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions!

What I Offer

Developmental Edit
$50/10,000 words

I will hold your hand through the entire manuscript-editing process. I will give feedback on plot, character, setting, and more. My developmental edits include in-line comments as well as a final, comprehensive letter. A developmental edit includes an initial round of edits, plus another round to go over changes you’ve made.

Line Editing
$35/10,000 words

I will read your manuscript and leave in-line comments on prose. I will correct any spelling, grammar, and formatting issues, along with making style suggestions, such as highlighting confusing or repetitive sentence structures or ineffective metaphors. I can provide suggestions on how to make your prose clearer or more effective if you would like.

Beta Reading
$30/10,000 words

I will read your manuscript and give reader reactions via in-line comments and a final letter detailing my overall thoughts. I will note what I like, what confuses me, and where the story risks losing my interest.

Proofreading
$25/10,000 words

I will do a full review of your manuscript to correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and other style issues. I love working with writers for whom English is a second or third language.

Testimonials

“August’s feedback was productive and incredibly thorough, and it challenged me in ways I hadn’t considered before. They offered suggestions for line-level details as well as the big picture, which helped me sharpen my story while honoring my original vision. They also tailored their input to my needs as we went. My work is better now than it was before!”

A.R. Moss, author of Ocean in a Bottle

“Your comments are amazing. You approach feedback from both a micro and macro perspective, which is really useful. […] You provide writing advice that I can take into future projects. You are VERY good at trying to see the project through the lens I intend, rather than trying to edit this into the project you want to see—this is a difficult skill that not many editors possess.”
